American Express Launches Blockchain Platform with Ripple
The partnership between American Express, Ripple and Santander Bank, which began in November last year, is becoming more fruitful: three companies continue to work on blockchain solutions to ensure safe and fast cross-border payments. American Express recently has posted vacancy (this post has already disappeared) that refers to this partnership and says that the company is focused on “growth, new products and technology offerings to meet customer needs and build on the American Express brand.”
“In 2018 we are introducing a block chain solution with Ripple and Santander. This is an exciting time to join the FXIP organization as we increase our focus on growth, new products and technology offerings to meet customer needs and build on the American Express brand as a top, global provider of payments services”, the job ad stated.
American Express and Santander Bank started using Ripple’s startup technology from the very beginning of the partnership.
AmEx Vice President statement
Last week at the Money 20/20 Europe conference, AmEx Vice President Colin O’ Flaherty confirmed that his company will be using the xCurrent solution developed by Ripple to implement global transactions with high speed and greater transparency.
“Ripple offers instantaneous, point-to-point conversations between the sender and receiver of funds. And that provides a real opportunity to alleviate most of the issues our customers are facing,” said Flaherty at the conference.
Santander is already using xCurrent for its OnePayFX service, which allows customers to make international money transfers on the same or the next day.
Ripple (XRP) is now trading at $0.59 with a market capitalization of over $22 billion. xRapid which implies the use of XRP tokens have also got much attention at conference. Many banks and financial institutions have already adopted XRP token. MoneyGram tested the xRapid in January.
