Israeli Startup Launches Cruelty Free Cryptocurrency VeganCoin

Vegetarians and cryptocurrency. What do all these have in common? Both of these seemingly incompatible concepts have found common ground thanks to Isaac Thomas. Vegancoin is to become the first cryptocurrency for vegan and vegetarians.

VeganNation

American entrepreneur Isaac Thomas wanted to open a large chain of restaurants for vegetarians throughout the United States together with his business partners. However, during planning strategy, they realized that the opening of the restaurants is not enough.

Considering the fact that tens of millions of vegetarians live around the world, Thomas and his team quickly changed their vision of their future business, targeting it for the long term.
CEO and founder of the VeganNation Isaac Thomas went vegan just a couple of years ago. Even then, he understood that the US does not have a developed infrastructure for vegetarians.

Here’s what he says about this to Jerusalem Post:
“We realized that as many restaurants as we open, we’re not meeting the need and challenges of vegans around the world.
That’s when we came up with idea of VeganNation to unite vegans from around the world.”
In 2017, Isaac Thomas, together with his business partners and co-founders Nati Giat, Shenor Shapira and Yossi Raybi decided to establish a company in Tel Aviv.

VeganCoin

The official statement on their website:
“A decentralized, global community for vegans that brings transparency, engagement, and trust makes veganism easier to adopt and simpler to maintain.
Our blockchain-based ecosystem will consist of 5 main pillars; Economy, Content, Marketplace, Community and innovation. All components of this ecosystem were thoroughly compiled with a strong, united nation in mind.”

Main pillars of VeganCoin

The first and most important basis is the economy. This includes food, international trade and the joint use of vegetarian products.Thomas explained one of the components – sharing the food. It’s such a buffet, but only with dishes for vegetarians. All the food will be equally divided among the guests, so that after they can carry everything with them. Such a method will solve many pressing problems in most cities of the world, that don’t offer many vegan options.
Also, the founders of the project after the launch of the store want to add there a blog site. Any person could become part of a large community, creating new useful content, publishing thematic news, recipes for dishes.

It will be something like a full-fledged ecosystem for vegetarians on the Internet, a place where everyone can find the right thing, information or even a recipe for an everyday dish.

“This makes it easier to sustain a vegan lifestyle,” Thomas says. “One of main challenges of turning and staying vegan is the lack of a support system around you. So by bringing people together around dinners it will help provide a support system for people who are going vegan.”
The second important basis of this project is Vegan e-commerce. The platform is still in development, but according to plans it will sell various products, ranging from clothing to small accessories and cosmetics.

“Anything we consume in daily life, we want to make sure it’s done without harming animals and through fair trade. We will be a marketplace for vegan vendors to sit on our platform,” Thomas says.

“The idea is to build a full vegan ecosystem where vegans can find food, commerce and content in one place.”
VeganNation will launch its own cryptocurrency – VeganCoin.

After the company launches the website, anyone can register, get an “electronic passport of a vegetarian” and a wallet in VeganNation.

VeganCoin Vs Fiat Currency

“Someone can be the biggest vegan activist but when they have a dollar bill in their pocket – yesterday it could have been at McDonald’s,” says Thomas. “It’s like the idea of blood diamonds. For the vegan person, the old currency is the same thing.”

This is Thomas’s opinion. He came to this conclusion thanks to a famous quote from Paul McCartney. “If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian” .
With the help of innovative technologies and blockchain, the VeganNation platform will become like a transparent glass wall.

Currently, VeganNation is in the middle of ICO. VeganCoin is set go on crowdsale at the beginning of September, 2018.
